Hi, my name is Alex Muhich. I’ve been playing card games since 2006 and have been a tournament official for a few games since 2011. I had heard of The Spoils from Dragon Shield sleeve boxes and more recently from the event held at the ARG Championships in Florida, but didn’t know anything about it. I had been given a brief description of what it’s like, but had never sat down and played until I had some free time between rounds at Force of Will AGP Dallas 2016.

As many of you know, the inaugural Victors Circuit happened in Orlando, Florida at the beginning of this month. In partnership with Alter Reality Games, the Victors Circuit is a regional-style event where you play for an invitation to the North American Spoils Championship at Gen Con 2016, as well as numerous other prizes such as a unique Top 8 Playmat, Top 8 Resources and Dice, and the Alternate Art “Gideon, the Ultimate Warrior”. I am back with the second part about my experience at Gencon. This part will cover the limited tournaments.

Gencon featured two big limited events. The first event of Gencon was the Sealed Championships featuring the new set, Seed Saga. This let us play with the set for the first time ever and we could obtain the card before release.

MEGACON CONVENTION REPORT pt. 3 Waking up Sunday was a bit of a challenge.  The tournament Sunday was early, at 10am because the convention center closed at 5pm on Sunday.  To make things more complicated for Christina and I, we needed to check out of our room before we left for the tournament and we didn’t know what we were going to do with our dog.  We ended up putting him in his doggie carrier, sneaking him into the tournament hall and keeping him under the table while we played. For the tournament, Christina again went with Gearsmith/Rogue, while I played Free Trade.  It was fun watching people before the tournament, because everyone was expecting more Stuttermachine, and I got some surprised reactions when I flipped my resources for the first game. Round 1, Eric Mitchell: Eric is another player from my local store.  He was playing Rogue/Gearsmith.  We had a really fun game, we both ended up with a ton of resources in play, and most of our deck on the field.  He got me to 7 influence before I started using Limited Liability and life gain.  He was confused about what I was doing at first, and he wondered out loud about what I might be playing Rage for.  When I played Remains of Foreman Pete, he connected it right away and told me I must have a lot of face down burn cards.  He was right, and I ended at 105 life when I burned him out.  He was however, the only player that did any damage to me all tournament…. 1-0 Round 2, Christina Ferraro:...
